Dear Parents,
Since these two songs come from very different worlds, the rugged jungle and a magical ballroom, our goal is to have a "base costume" that works for both with just one or two quick additions. This keeps things easy for you and ensures quick transitions for the kids!
Please have your child wear a solid-colored base of khaki, tan, or light brown (t-shirt and leggings/pants). This neutral palette works perfectly for a jungle bear and transforms easily into a "magical forest friend" for Cinderella. They will borrow a pair of brown bear ears from the studio and a brown, black, or gray vest for the Bare Necessities number. Please also provide either a short blue cape, blue fairy wings, or a silver vest. They will borrow a magic wand from the studio to complete their look. To keep things safe and consistent, please have students wear neutral-colored sneakers (white, tan, or black). Hair should be pulled back off their face and kids should not wear any jewelry.
By using a single base outfit, we can ensure the kids look cohesive as a group while making the costume changes stress-free. If you have any questions about these items, please feel free to reach out!
Best,
Ms. Mino

This program is centered around bringing a beloved novel to life on stage. 🧁 You'll receive a copy of the original novel, and throughout our rehearsal schedule—during snack, lunch, and dinner breaks—we'll dive into comparing and contrasting the source material with its musical adaptation. This is a fantastic opportunity for all ages to engage in lively discussions, with older students acting as role models and discussion leaders. But the fun doesn't stop on the stage! 🧁 Just like Kylie, the main character in our musical, we'll learn some new life skills! She Persisted a 1-Act Musical
Jan 5 - March 8 (once a week)
Get ready for an immersive multi-skill workshop that blends history, musical theater, and art! This program is centered around celebrating the historical contributions of women in America and bringing their stories to life on stage. You’ll receive your very own copy of the book She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World to keep and use for character research. Throughout our rehearsals, we’ll dive into the lives of the trailblazers featured in our show—learning that no matter the obstacle, they persisted, and we can too! This is a fantastic opportunity for our performers to engage in real-world history, with older students acting as role models and lead researchers. But the inspiration doesn’t stop on the stage! Just like Naomi, the main character in our musical who finds her voice at a museum, we’ll head out on our own adventure! We will participate in a special field trip on March 7th to the Newark Museum of Art and the Newark Public Library. Join your cast mates for a guided tour of the Women’s History exhibit and participate in interactive artmaking. Exploring our history is always more powerful when experienced together!
