Our studio was born out of a simple need: the search for an affordable, recreational theater program where my own daughter could thrive. As an educator with years of experience in youth theater and dance, I realized I had the tools to build exactly what was missing: a space where the spotlight is used to build confidence, and the wings are a place to discover new talents. We believe that theater is about more than just the final bow. It is about the courage it takes to step onto a stage, the collaboration required to tell a story, and the technical skills that bring a production to life.
In our first year alone, we have been privileged to work with over 130 participants, ranging from kindergartners to seniors over 55 years old. Each production has reinforced our mission to make the arts accessible to everyone.
The Lion King (Reader’s Theater): We kicked off the spring with 12 enthusiastic 2nd-5th graders at the Hunterdon County Library. This five-week workshop focused on the fundamentals: projection, emotional expression, and the pure joy of dressing up as a character.
Frozen & The Wackadoo Zoo: Our summer season was a whirlwind of energy! We hosted 84 students (K-8th grade) across three camps. For the majority of these performers, this was their very first time in a production. Watching them step out of their comfort zones with such enthusiasm was truly incredible.
Captain Louie Jr.: Our Halloween production featured 7 talented 4th-7th graders who tackled a 60-minute musical with infectious energy. This show also marked a milestone for our technical program, as a 3rd-grade student successfully managed all sound cues with professional focus.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Jr.: To close our first year, an ensemble of 31 students (1st-8th grade) brought this holiday classic to life. This production highlighted our commitment to mentorship, as older students stepped up to lead the younger cast members. We also expanded our tech capabilities with our resident 3rd-grade tech student mastering our new community-donated floodlight.
We believe you are never too old to find your voice. This year, we were honored to direct a Senior Reader’s Theater production of Singin’ in the Rain Sr. This cast featured 8 seniors (ages 55+), many of whom hadn't performed since they were teens. Joined by my own mentor from Country Gate Players Inc, this production was a beautiful, full-circle reminder that the magic of theater and the courage to perform truly have no age limit.
Whether a student is learning their first line in The Wackadoo Zoo or operating the sound for Captain Louie Jr., our goal is the same: to foster a supportive environment where every individual feels empowered. We aren't just teaching theater; we are building a community.
Join us as we begin our next season. There is a place for everyone in our cast!
