Montessori Program:
Our exceptional program is based on Montessori philosophy. Our classroom offers your child independent choice from a range of Montessori equipment and other complimentary resources and extensions. The Montessori curriculum is based on five areas:
The exercises of Practical Life are considered the foundation of the Montessori curriculum. They are changed all through the year to encourage creativity and nurture curiosity.
Spontaneous and purposeful work allows your child to develop control and coordination of movement, awareness of his/her environment, good work habits, responsibility, concentration, attention, independence, order, and a positive self-image.
The materials graduate in degree of difficulty from gross motor skills to fine motor skill development. Your child learns the simple tasks involved with taking care of himself/herself and care of his/her environment, as well as the Islamic manners and values taught by our beloved prophet Muhammed (ﷺ) such as beginning all tasks by saying "Bismillah", performing Wudoo, and Salah.

During the developmental years, a child’s ability and desire to absorb new and exciting information can be constant. There is a need at this age to develop and refine the senses.
Montessori sensorial materials are very unique and give your child an exceptional and memorable experience. Whether in the classroom, kitchen, or backyard, opportunities are there for your child to touch, explore, problem-solve, and reason in a fun and imaginative way.
Sensorial activities are designed to reinforce the five senses to help guide your child in learning to discriminate, clarify, and compare. They help prepare for intellectual development in an orderly manner. The Sensorial materials introduce the concepts of color, weight, shape, texture, size, sound, and smell and are great fun for your child. They teach knowledge and understanding of the world and lay a solid foundation for Mathematics, Geometry, Geography, Botany, Art, and Creativity.
In our program, your child will spend time in the kitchen, where he/she will have opportunities for touching, exploring, reasoning, and problem-solving in fun and creative ways. He/she will match and grade colors, shapes, sizes, textures, sounds, and scents. He/she develops his/her natural ability to create with a variety of stimulating and enhanced materials
At a young age, your child has a phenomenal capacity to absorb language. Therefore, every effort is made to give him/her as much and as precise a vocabulary as possible. The process of absorbing and expressing is encouraged both individually and in groups. This is a very important part of the everyday Montessori program.
Learning language becomes interesting, fun, and creative through activities in the Pink, Blue, and Green Montessori language series. Your child works at his/her own pace, gradually through daily practices, pre-writing, pre-reading, communication, and reading.
Sandpaper letters are used to introduce the sounds of the alphabet to your little one when he/she is ready. In the Montessori program, your child does not learn by heart but learns to utilize all his/her abilities to help him/her read and write with proper understanding.
The English language is taught as a first language. Our program is organized into the areas of listening, speaking, writing (in cursive), and reading (print). Our reading program is comprised of both a phonetic approach and whole language. Encoding is taught before decoding, so as soon as your child can recognize certain phonetic sounds, letters are put together to form words. Soon words become sentences, and sentences form stories. As soon as your child is ready, he/she is introduced to advanced books, stories, and creative writing to facilitate development in this area. We have a huge collection of books with realistic non-fiction content and illustrations to instill the love of reading in your child.
Montessori mathematics is one of Dr. Montessori’s most brilliant inventions.
Mathematics materials are designed to give your child a sound understanding of numbers and their relationships. Three fundamental rules stream through the entire system: all mathematical operations are initiated using manipulatives, from simple to advanced concepts, and the concrete is always taught before the abstract.
Work is always introduced in a simple and sensorial way so that your child can see, hold, and feel a number or concept and gradually be led to an abstract understanding. Your little one is introduced by learning to orally count to ten with manipulatives (concrete), after which he/she learns to distinguish the symbols (abstract) that represent the quantity. Following this, he/she is introduced to the base ten systems of units: ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands. The four major operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) are also taught using a wide range of materials. Other than the numbers, your child learns length, weight, capacity, and problem-solving.
In our program, we make sure that your child will be allowed to work at his/her own pace and will be introduced to the different stages only when he/she is ready. Numbers are included in materials for seasons, religious events and knowledge, and science themes and are changed throughout the year to inspire and maintain interest.
The Montessori cultural subjects are endless and diverse. The Culture unit covers:
Nature study
It incorporates the study of living and non-living things. Your child will have the opportunity to explore and understand his/her environment.
Botany and Zoology
Your little one will be exposed to the study of plants and animals. He/she will be taught to classify impressions into clear and simple categories.
Geography, History, Muslim personalities and intellectuals
To launch your child’s exploration of the world’s physical environment, he/she is introduced to the various continents, countries, land and water forms, and the solar system.
Geography is covered with Montessori-wooden puzzle maps and flags, and the continent is further enhanced with cultural studies. Teaching materials are made of seven continent boxes that include items and instruments from each continent, with a focus on animals, habitats, people, food, culture, and monuments and landmarks.

Dr. Maria Montessori was born in 1870 in the area of Ancona, Italy. Among her many accomplishments, she became the first lady doctor in Italy’s history at the age of 26. She is best known, however, for creating the educational method that bears her name. Montessori worked energetically to develop the cause of child education throughout her career, beginning in Italy, where the first Montessori school was opened in Rome in 1907, and afterward in India, and finally in the Netherlands, where she established the Association Montessori International.
Montessori distinguished the predominant characteristics and inclinations that appear during each stage of a child’s improvement. She further recognized that teachers must develop keen observation abilities so that the needs of children can be met as they express themselves. Montessori formulated materials and exercises that are to be displayed to children as their formative needs emerge, permitting children to fulfil those needs autonomously. The all-inclusiveness of her strategy has been demonstrated over and over again in thousands of Montessori schools spread over six continents.
Maria Montessori was also an incredible advocate for world peace; in fact, she was twice designated for the Nobel Peace Prize. She imagined a quiet and energetic world where all development—be it physical, passionate, social, mental, or spiritual—could continue if children were allowed to thrive as self-directed, caring, and independent citizens.

Other Curriculums and activities:
The Montessori program is the core and foundation of all of our educational programs. As a homeschool Muslim mother who is inspired by other philosophies, we also incorporate other elements, strategies, and materials into our calendar. Islamic studies, Unit study, cooking, gardening, and teaching Arabic language are some of the additional benefits of creating our enriched and unique program.
Islamic education is fully integrated into our curriculum. At "Le Bon Chemin Montessori Centre", Quran recitation is part of our morning routine. Your child will have the opportunity to memorize the short surat of Juz Ammah and Duas. The Islamic way of living and interacting ensures your child is constantly absorbing Islamic teachings and behaviors =Adab . Your child will work with hands-on materials for Islamic studies and dua, instilling in him/her a love for his Creator and the prophet (ﷺ).
Play is an essential part of your child’s physical and social development, and outside play is a part of our program. We have the benefit of being located within walking distance of many play areas. The only exceptions for us enjoying the outdoors are when the weather does not permit health and safety. During harsh weather, your child is invited to set up mats to do individual and small group physical exercises all through class time.
At Le Bon Chemin Montessori Centre, we value the importance of young children having exposure to classical Arabic. Since your child is at the stage of his life in which he/she absorbs language with ease, we incorporated the classical Arabic = العربية الفصحى into our curriculum.
We put all our effort into providing your child with exposure to the Arabic language in a simple, living form. To enhance your child’s spoken Arabic, our curriculum emphasizes the precise use of language and prioritizes the acquisition of conversational language and vocabulary. As your little one progresses in his/her understanding of the Fusha, he/she is introduced to the written form, mirroring the steps of our Montessori-based educational program. Arabic is introduced thematically through vocabulary enrichment, children's anasheed, and interactive language activities.

We know every Child is different!
All activities are planned week by week, following your child’s interests. The activities are based on your child's observations as well as any interests specified by you about what you are observing at home. These learning outcomes are specific to your child’s age and stage of development.
We observe your young one to evaluate what his/her individual needs might be. We are not attempting to impart knowledge but to provide endless opportunities to learn and an environment in which this is most easily accomplished.
In our centre, we seek to guide instead of control.
Curiosity and creativity are fundamental to successful learning. It is through art that your child can communicate ideas and feelings, observe the complexity of the world, explore shape and texture, and come to appreciate the beauty of Allah's creation. Anasheed, painting, coloring, collage, play dough, clay, storytelling, free art with loose parts, crafts, and teacher-directed art are geared towards seasonal or curriculum themes, current Islamic events, and group interests.
The particularity of the Montessori setting is the nature table, which we also use for loose parts and stepped drawing samples. It allows your child to develop his imagination and creativity.
Our educational program is holistic. It is divided into a weekly curriculum that focuses on different “lessons” in terms of large group activities such as Islamic studies, Mathematics and Science, Phonics, Languages, and an understanding of the world. All activities are fun, stimulating, and age-appropriate, extended with craft and hands-on activities to enable your child to make connections between one area of learning and another.
Daily circle time includes listening skills and discussions. It offers openings for group discussions, answering questions, telling stories, and showing craft and achievement. The topic of circle time changes with the evolving curriculum.
