Tom Fox was a Hunter - Trapper Education (HTE) Instructor for the PA Game Commission for over 40 years. Tom was one of the finest instructors in Lebanon County, and was well renowned for his ability to interact with young students, piquing - and keeping - their interest in whatever section he taught in class. Tom epitomized the saying "Before anyone cares how much you know, first they need to know how much you care".
As our first post-Covid 19 service event for 2021, the Red Rose Chapter of the Izaak Walton League hosted the first Tom Fox Memorial Youth Pheasant Hunt in March 2021. The participants were graduates of Lebanon County's hunter education program in 2019. (Due to Covid 19 restrictions, there were no local classes taught in 2020.) We had nineteen participants in this years hunt, with sixty birds released for the event. Needless to say, there were opportunities aplenty for the hunters!
The hunt was funded in large part by generous donations from our member club "R" Field & Stream, where Tom was an active member, and the Red Rose Chapter's Bird Dog Club. Lunch for the event was provided by the Red Rose Chapter of the Izaak Walton League.
