I have spent 9 years working with children in various public school settings. I have had the opportunity to work alongside and learn from multiple master teachers. I have seen them come up with surprisingly inventive solutions to problems and work together to support their students. Even in the best of circumstances, in good schools with great teachers, it can be challenging to meet each student's individual needs. In every classroom there are students who need extra support and students who need extra challenges, and this changes from subject to subject. Classroom teachers work incredibly hard and do amazing things, but every single student in their room has their own unique strengths and weaknesses and it is impossible to accomplish this entirely in even the best possible classroom setting.
Some people have made the choice to homeschool. This can help to individualize learning for a child and let students work at their own pace. Dedicated families find creative ways to make learning meaningful to their child and spend countless hours researching ways to teach new concepts. Unfortunately, these families often do not have access to the same community, support, and resources available to schools. Sometimes, they find it challenging to provide opportunities for group work and socialization.
Learning with Laughter can help fill these gaps. I can work with students individually or in small groups, virtually or in person, or a combination of these methods. I can provide extra support or extra challenges. I can provide hands-on learning experiences, facilitate projects, and even take students on educational trips. Social Studies is a particular passion of mine and I look for ways to incorporate it into my work with every student and to show children how fascinating it can be. It is always fun to see students light up when doing science experiments. I enjoy sharing my love of reading and writing with children and encouraging them to be creative with it. Math is something that many students find challenging. As a child, so did I. I had to think outside of the box to find strategies that worked for me, but eventually I did and was able to be successful in college level math classes. These experiences have helped me to share different ways of understanding math with students, allowing them to discover the ways that work for them. Above all, my goal is to make learning a positive experience.
