Programmes teachers are using to support students and help accelerate achievement in Reading.
Feeding in before Reading
Junior Example:
Books are specifically chosen!
A great online digital story platform for use on both ipads and chromebooks. Teachers can set students readers at their level. Students can work through the readers at their own pace and then complete the three activities at the end of each reader to check their understanding of what they have read. Teachers can track the progress the students are making.
A great idea for students monitoring their reading level:
This is a great opportunity for students to take control of their learning and self-monitor their progress.
Using a padlet where students can record any words that they don't know or understand during their reading. As a teacher you are able to quickly see what words you need to work on with them and help them understand what they mean.
The padlet could also include focus questions for the text. This helps student's think about what they are reading, as they read for a purpose.

Multi Modal Reading is engaging students and helping to deepen their understanding and improve comprehension.
Multi-Modal Reading includes a variety of reading resources about a topic. The learner is presented with a variety of texts using a variety of modes including video, animation, audio, podcast, infographics, photos, websites, cartoons. The texts can also be at different levels (multi-textual): main text, complementary text, scaffolding text, student selected text, challenging text.
You can present this type of learning to students in many different ways. Below are some links to see how different teachers plan for this type of learning.
