Pronoun is a word or phrase that is used as a substitution for a noun or noun phrase. It has function to avoid the repetition in sentences. Since it is substitution of a noun, a pronoun can act as a subject, direct object, indirect object, and takes the place of any person, place, animal or thing, for example ANITA is a kind girl, she lives alone here. Therefore, the word " She" is a pronoun that refers to Anita.
Types of Pronoun
Pronoun includes personal pronoun, possessive pronoun, reflexive pronoun,indefinite pronoun,interrogative pronoun, reciprocal pronoun, and intensive pronoun. However when we talk about introduction, we mostly have to understand the first three types of pronoun. Therefore there are only three types of pronouns are discussed here.
Personal Pronoun
Personal pronoun is a word that is used as a substitution of a particular person, animal or thing. this pronoun can be as a subject or an object.
Subject pronouns include I, you, she, he, it, we, they. Subject pronouns replace the name of the subject in the sentence.
For example:
I went to beach yesterday
You have told that before.
She likes the story.
He studies hard to pass the exam.
It begs for food
We go there together
They will spend weekend together.
Object pronouns include me, you, her, him, it, us, them. They act as the object in sentences.
For example:
Please tell me about that
Tina will call you soon.
Please tell her the truth.
I like him.
Take it , please!
He invited us.
Do you know them.
2. Possessive Pronoun and Possessive Adjective
Both possessive pronoun and possessive adjective indicates possession or ownership. However, possessive adjectives act like adjectives for example "my" in "my book", "her" in "her friend".
Possessive adjectives include my, your, our, his, her, its, our, their
For example:
I love my cat
The pen is your pen
Our class is over there
His mother is very nice to me
Her parents will come here
Its fur is so smooth
Our friends will gather here
Their toys are packed nicely
Possessive Pronoun include mine, yours,ours, his, hers, its, ours, theirs
For example:
This is my pen, this is mine

3. Reflexive Pronoun
Reflexive pronoun refers back to the subject of the sentence of clause. It is used when subject is same with the object. This includes myself,yourself,himself, herself, itself,ourselves, themselves, yourselves.
For example:
I drove the car myself.
You will drive yourself to the beach.
He baked a cake himself.
She does it by herself
The dog feeds itself.
we can do it by ourselves.
You are too young to go out by yourselves.
They baked a cake themselves.
