John Conway was born on December 26, 1937, to Agnes Boyce and Cyril Conway.
He had two older sisters Sylvia and Joan Conway.
John Conway got his doctorate in 1964 and began teaching pure mathematics at Cambridge University, England
In 1970, he invented Conway's Game of Life. Simplifying John von Neumann's idea of a Universal Constructor (machines with the ability to self replicate).
In 1981 he was elected a fellow of the royal society of London
Then in 1983 he was promoted to professor of mathematics at Cambridge.
in 2001 he married to his wife Dianna and had a son Gareth born in 2001
On April 11 2020 John Conway passed away from complications of Covid-19. He was 82

In 1959 he earned his B.A. in Mathmatics from Caius College Cambridge
During this time he analyzed many games including Backgammon and Go and married his first wife Eileen Howe.
In 1966, working with John leech, he transformed his mathmatical career by discovering a new simple group
Also in 1970, he discovered a new system of numbers called the Surreal numbers.
In 1986 he left Cambridge to accept the John von Neumann Chair of mathematics at Princeton University< New Jersey, USA.
In 2013 John Conway retired from his job at Princeton after working in mathematics for 49 years.
