What is Industrial Arts?

Industrial Arts is a strand that helps students develop and improve their technical skills. These skills are useful for industry jobs including carpentry, automotive services, electronics, plumbing, welding, and many more. Industrial arts are commonly referred to as technology education. It may include small engine repair and automobile maintenance, and all programs usually cover technical drawing as part of the curriculum.

Industrial Arts as a curriculum area is defined as those phases of general education which deal with industry, its organization, materials, occupation, processes, and products, and with the problems resulting from the industrial and technological nature of society.

MASONRY

Building structures with stone, concrete, and tile. Cutting, shaping, and dressing materials. lifting, carrying, and placing prepared blocks.

WELDER

Heavy machinery is responsible for assembling pieces of metal together or repairing damage to metal components using heavy machinery that emits high heat, melting the metal into shape. Their duties include reviewing blueprints, cutting metal into the appropriate shape, and smoothing molten metal to remove creases.

PLUMBER

They install and repair pipes and fixtures that carry water, gas, or other fluids in homes and businesses. They also maintain plumbing fixtures like bathtubs and toilets, and appliances such as dishes or heating systems.

AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN

Truck and bus mechanics and mechanical repairers inspect, diagnose, repair, and service mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and components of cars, buses, and light and commercial transport trucks.
