Title I is one of the nation’s largest federal programs, providing qualifying schools with resources to provide supplemental instruction to struggling students in the areas of reading/language arts and math. As defined under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA):

"The purpose of this title is to provide all children significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps."
