This past July, I was the main convener of the “Tick, tick… Boom! Timescales and dynamics of volcanic plumbing systems revealed by multidisciplinary approaches” session at the IAVCEI Scientific Assembly 2025, which was held in Geneva between June 29th and July 4th 2025. Thank you again for all the interesting presentations and fruitful discussions!
The session was on exploring volcanic pre-eruptive timescales and magma dynamics. We particularly welcome multidisciplinary contributions from researchers worldwide, especially early-career researchers, correlating petrological and geochemical observations, experimental petrology, thermodynamic modeling and machine learning techniques, with monitoring signals.
Invited speaker: Euan Mutch (Earth Observatory of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore)
I also co-convened the session 3.2 on the evolution of magmas in plumbing systems.
