I focus on answering fundamental questions about active galactic nuclei (AGN) by investigating their radio properties, and using multi-wavelength information to place the radio information in context. I am a core member of the LOFAR Surveys Key Science Project, and a member of the MIGHTEE survey, which is already using MeerKAT, a Square Kilometre Array Observatory (SKAO) precursor, for early science. I am Chair of the UK SKAO Science Committee, and a member of both the extragalactic and VLBI working groups for the SKAO. I am also the Durham PI for our involvement in the UK SKAO Regional Centre. On the multi-wavelength side, I look forward to the WEAVE-LOFAR survey, which will provide over a million spectra for LOFAR sources. My collaborations within these teams spread across Europe, South Africa, and include colleagues from the US and Australia.

This is a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship project which focuses on enacting wide-area radio surveys with sub-arcsecond resolution imaging, with the aim to study active galactic nuclei and how they impact their host galaxies.
Role: Principle Investigator
Team members: Frits Sweijen, Srimoyee Mitra, Abdul Gani (Indian partners: Yogesh Wadadekar, Ruta Kale)
This project aims to further collaborations between the UK and India, working with Square Kilometre Array pathfinder telescopes like LOFAR and the uGMRT. It involves academics at Durham (lead institute), Cambridge, Oxford, and Imperial in the UK, and the NCRA-TIFR in India.
Role: Deputy (Lead: Martin Hardcastle, Hertfordshire)
Team members: Matthijs van der Wild
This is the consortium which manages the UK's involvement in the International LOFAR Telescope, which is now a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC).
Role: Co-investigator
Team members: Bénite Tantely, Pombili Christian
The original iteration of Development in Africa with Radio Astronomy (DARA) was a Newton Fund project, but it has been revived with funding from STFC. Durham is one of many institutes in the UK (Lead institute: Leeds) involved in providing skills training and opportunities to young people in African partner countries.
Role: co-Principle Investigator, along with Philip Best
Role: Science working group lead, VLBI working group lead
