I am committed to helping promote gender equality in Physics. At Durham University, I am on the Department Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, and run an annual survey for the Astronomy section to help identify areas for improvement in our workplace environment. I have also been mentoring through the Supernova Foundation, which provides mentoring and networking for women and gender minorities in Physics across the globe.
Along with another Future Leaders Fellow, we co-chaired the AGN Populations Across Continents and Cosmic Time conference in July 2024. This scientific conference had the additional aim of connecting European and African researchers on the topic of AGN, by fully funding African scientists to come to the UK for the conference. A report on the conference can be found here: https://arxiv.org/abs/2411.12834
As an undergraduate at the University of Michigan, I was one of the three co-founders of the Society of Women in Physics (SWiP). As a fellow at Oxford, I served as the President of the Oxford Women in Physics Society (now Oxford Physics Gender Equality Network), and served on the department's Equality and Diversity committee. I am also committed to helping promote racial equality in Physics, and am actively learning what steps I can take to make systematic changes in our community.
Here is an excellent talk series I recommend for everyone, whether or not they belong to an under-represented group: Astronomy in Colour Talk Series. I am not associated with the AiC organisation, but have attended as many of the talks as I can!
