The Sessions
Designed to help you become an effective community leader, Leadership Spencer County offers the opportunity to develop leadership skills and expand knowledge of Spencer County. Monthly sessions address issues of concern to the community and leadership development topics:
o Leadership Style
o Economic Development
o Diversity
o Managing Conflict
o Communication
o Government
o Education
o Getting Involved
The program includes 10-11 monthly sessions from February through November. Locations will take participants throughout the county to see businesses and locations such as the Saint Meinrad Archabbey, Spencer County Courthouse, Dale Presbyterian Church Micah Center, and more.
The curriculum is led by Purdue Extension along with experienced community leaders and professionals who offer a variety of learning experiences.
The Participants
The program is open to all men and women, ages 18 and older, who live or work in Spencer County. Potential participants must be concerned about the county’s future and be committed to personal involvement in shaping that future.
Each year, approximately 20 individuals are selected to participate in the program, forming a class that reflects a cross-section of the community, including business, education, the arts, religion, government, community-based organizations and ethnic and minority groups. Program participants are selected on their own merits determined from information provided on a confidential application.
