Greetings and welcome to my Online Teaching Principles Capstone project!
This Capstone Project would not have been possible without the great support of my mentors and colleagues. First and foremost, I'd like to thank Patrick Borja for being a great mentor and for encouraging me to teach at Citrus College. I'd like to thank Dean James McClain for giving me my first classes to teach. I'd also like to thank Dean Dana Hester for fostering my professional growth by encouraging me to take @ONE courses. Last but certainly not least, I'd like to thank all of my instructors and colleagues from @ONE who made this learning journey an enjoyable one.
Since 2016, I have been an Instructor of Business Law and Personal Finance at Citrus Community College where I taught my first class in the same classroom in which I sat as a student in years prior. After relocating to Northern California in 2017, my passion of teaching led me to embark on a journey to becoming a certified online teacher.
In 2018, I started taking @ONE courses and this website showcases my growth and development in each of the five @ONE Principles for Quality Online Teaching. In my journey with @ONE, I've learned:
(1) The evolving norms for interacting with and in a digital environment;
(2) How crucial it is to be socially present in online classes;
(3) To practice equity and be culturally responsive in my online classes;
(4) The importance of designing an online class that is dynamic; and
(5) The significance of continued professional development.
On this site, I share my reflections on the four professional development courses that comprise the program for the CVC-OEI/ @ONE Advanced Certificate in Online Teaching Principles. This site also includes examples on how I apply the four @One Principles for Quality Online Teaching throughout my course.
