Faculty Administrator for Open Education and Innovation (2022-present)
Serve as member of the leadership team in the Maricopa Community Colleges Academic and Student Affairs department, reporting to the Provost. Provides leadership for the planning, implementation and growth of OER efforts and academic innovations. The goal is to sustain and grow instructional innovation, including that as it relates to Open Educational Resources (OER), artificial intelligence, microcredential pathways and digitial transformation. The Faculty Administrator is a primary contact and provides leadership, support, and implementation of District-wide OER and academic innovation initiatives for the colleges. Current projects include work on Artificial Intelligence, Open Education, Micro-credentialing, and supporting innovations in health care education.

Responsible for working with faculty and staff in the design and development of classes for in person, online, and hybrid delivery. Developed Online/Hybrid Development Grant program. Work closely with Information Technology to develop technology solutions for instructional uses. Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions based on the needs of the campus and faculty. Work individually with faculty on the design of their courses. Co-facilitate New Faculty Orientation program. Created eLearning Committee, developed strategic plan, and implemented a number of initiatives as a result of the work of the committee. Serve as college liaison to the District office in regard to instructional design and instructional technology issues and projects. Serve as co-chair of District’s Open Educational Resources initiative. Former Chair of the District’s Academic Technology Alliance (ATA) and the Information and Instructional Technology Governance Council from 2011-2013. Special projects include Technology Innovation Improvement Grant Program (TI2P), iPad program, Maricopa on Facebook, Maricopa Millions OER project, administration of SmarterMeasure and VoiceThread licenses.
As co-chair of the Open Educational Resources (OER) Steering Team, provide leadership to the Maricopa Community College District in the use, adoption and development of an OER program called the Maricopa Millions Project. The goal of the project is to save students $5 million in 5 years. As co-chair, reporting directly to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, worked to establish a steering team, strategic plan, sound goals, grant program to fund customization of OER, training program, tracking of OER courses, evaluation tools and marketing plan. In the 5 years of the program, savings of over $10 million were documented in student costs for course materials.

Hydrologic Studies, Occupational Safety and Health Technology, Water Technologies
Responsible for three occupational programs (Hydrologic Studies, Occupational Safety and Health Technology, Water Technologies) comprised of three degree programs and four certificate of completion programs. As program director, responsible for developing curriculum, building course schedules, adopting textbooks, hiring and managing faculty, acquiring funding, managing program budgets, maintaining classroom and laboratory facilities, advising students, and building and maintaining industry partnerships. Developed strong partnerships with Salt River Project, City of Phoenix, Intel, USGS, and other municipalities resulting in student job placement, development of internships, and scholarship and equipment donations. Coordinated donations for and development of GIS (geographic information systems) computer lab, wet water quality lab, and ultrapure water plant. Planned and implemented school presentations, open houses, and developed the Work in Water consortium (http://www.workinwater.org) to market programs resulting in greater public awareness of the programs, stronger industry partnerships, and increased enrollment. Worked with faculty, adjunct faculty, and industry to develop and modify curriculum as needed to best prepare students for the workforce.
As faculty member, responsible for preparation, delivery and assessment of instruction consistent with the Maricopa Community College District course competencies in the fields of hydrologic studies, water technologies, and occupational safety and health technology. Instruction provided through numerous delivery methods, including face-to-face, hybrid and online courses. Online and hybrid course delivery through course management systems (Blackboard, Web Course in a Box), blogs, wikis, etc.
Participated in faculty exchange with Charles Sturt University and the Riverina TAFE in Australia, 2001 and 2003. Traveled to China as a representative of GateWay Community College to establish formal partnership.

E-learning Support (2005 – 2007)
Acted as part-time e-learning coordinator to provide e-learning support to faculty at GateWay Community College. Developed and conducted professional development activities for faculty and adjunct faculty. Worked individually with faculty on the development of their courses. Provided instruction on instructional design and instructional technology.

Blackboard Alliance
The Blackboard Alliance was a consortium of seven of the Maricopa Community Colleges which teamed up to purchase a single enterprise installation of the Blackboard course management system, to deliver instruction online. The Alliance worked together to make decisions on the roll out, upgrade options, to develop training, and test new versions. As co-chair, planned and led meetings in which the Alliance discussed new issues, building blocks, discussed training needs and planned for future course management applications. As faculty co-chair, role was to be the faculty voice of the District to this committee. Coordinated with faculty senate groups, and spent time taking the pulse of the faculty to share the needs of faculty with the Alliance.
Ocotillo RLO Action Group Co-chair (2004 – 2007)
Served as co-chair for the Ocotillo Action Group on Reusable Learning Objects (RLOs). Goal was to increase awareness and use of RLOs at the 10 Maricopa Community Colleges. This was accomplished by holding a number of awareness and training events as well as through a weblog and wikis.
The Savvy Cyber Professor
The Savvy Cyber Professor workshop was an eight session professional development series that familiarized community college faculty with unique and compelling applications of the Internet in science, mathematics, technology education and language arts. The goal of SCP was to help community college faculty model effective technology-based instruction in order to improve student engagement and achievement in core courses. As a team member on this PT3 Pathways Project grant, responsible for creation of Real World Learning Objects (RWLO), beta-testing, providing input on the design and instruction of the Savvy Cyber Professor, facilitation of eight sessions of the Savvy Cyber Professor for two different cohorts, participating as a team member of the core planning team for the grant, and presenting at conferences. Each cohort participated in a hybrid workshop in which they learned what makes a web resource unique and compelling and then learned how to develop a RWLO.
