Jim Copp 

(1978-1986)

Jim Copp Started the L.C. Bird Wrestling program in 1978. Before then, he had sucessful stints at Troy High School (1965-1968) and Thurston High School (1968-1978). During his tenure at L.C. Bird, he amassed a dual meet record of 67-30. He coached L.C. Bird to four Dominion District Dual-Meet titles, two Dominion District Tournament titles, a 4th-place team finish at the Regional Championship, and an 8th-place team finish at the VHSL AA State Championships. He coached 15 Dominion District Champions, 6 Regional Champions, 11 State Qualifiers, 10 State Medalists, and 3 State Champions. His career coaching record is 176-73. After retiring, he held a position as a school administrator. He later help find the L.C. Bird Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007,  which he also became a member when he was inducted in 2017.
