Nearpod Assignment- Theme
STUDENTS USE THIS CODE BWIND
This activity is a Nearpod assignment/presentation that describes the theme of a story. This is more of a review assignment that includes activities embedded into the presentation. This assignment covers the standard, RL.6.2 Determine a theme of a text and how it is conveyed through particular details; provide a summary of the text distinct from personal opinions or judgments. This is mainly for 6th graders. This assignment would be used while introducing a new topic to students and to gain an understanding of the theme and how to find it in a story. I would determine if the learning objective was met in this assignment by reviewing the embedded activities and reviewing student growth while grading those activities. If the majority of students answered the embedded questions correctly, I would say the objective was met but would not fully be able to track student growth or performance until a unit quiz was presented at the end of the unit or after teaching the content.
Google Form Quiz- Point of View
This quiz is to track student growth and performance from Point of View. If students score a score of 80 or above, then that shows the instructor that the learning objective was met and that students understood the concept. This activity covers the standard, RI.6.6 Determine an author’s point of view or purpose in a text and explain how it is conveyed in the text. This would be used in the classroom at the end of the week and at the end of the unit that covers Point of View. This quiz would be posted in either google classroom or a schoolwide website where students can access this on their laptops during class time.

This quiz covers the standard of, RL.6.4 Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative and connotative meanings; analyze the impact of a specific word choice on meaning and tone.
