Designer Maker Jeweller
I am a mixed-media maker, primarily constructing Jewellery out of 'rubbish' I find on the streets and in scrapyards. Using traditional Jewellery making techniques, needlework and experimental methods I transform the thrown-away into cherish-able objects of adornment. The intention of the work is to spark joy while utilising and highlighting the generative potential of the scrap materials surrounding us.
While considering the histories of the objects used, personal and collective narratives are embedded in my making. By combining the sentimentally hand-made with the manufactured - now detached and dysfunctional, I emphasise the persistence of our humanness while living in the digital age.
