Avatar Maker is a free online tool that allows users to create personalized digital avatars by customizing facial features, hairstyles, clothing, and accessories. It’s simple to use and doesn’t require registration. The tool can be used to design characters that represent students, story protagonists, or virtual classroom identities. Because it’s highly visual and creative, Avatar Maker encourages self-expression and engagement, especially for visual or shy learners.

How to use it

Step 1 – Go to the Website and choose your gender

Visit https://avatarmaker.com
No registration or login is needed — you can start right away.
Select a gender (male or female).
The editor will open with a blank face that you can customize.

Step 2 – Customize Your Avatar

Use the menu on the right to modify features such as:
- Face shape and skin tone
- Hairstyle and color
- Eyes, eyebrows, and mouth
- Clothing

Step 3 – Preview and Adjust

Look over your avatar and make any last changes to style or color.

Step 4 – Download and Save

When finished, click Download (bottom right).
Choose the image format (.PNG or .SVG).
Save the file on your device — ready to insert in presentations, posters, or class projects.

Instructions

Students will use Avatar Maker to create a digital character. Once finished, they will write a short paragraph or record an audio introducing their avatar—describing physical traits, personality, and hobbies using target language (e.g., adjectives and the verb “to be”). Pairs can then interview each other’s avatars in class or online.
