Order of Bezalel

The idea for Order of Bezalel as a movement was birthed at the 2013 Lausanne Global Leadership Forum, Bangalore, India.

The problem

Order of Bezalel started off as a reaction to restore creatives and artists to their Spirit-inspired place and potential in the creative economy of God (See Ex.31.1-3).

Theology in the context of Westernization reduces art and creative expression such as dance and music to a frill commodity at the service of the traditional sciences.

As a result, a low view of the arts means that artists too are undervalued and underutilized in many "Christian" environments. Artists are useful primarily as space-fillers or introductions to the main course consisting of non-artistic elements and more proper scientific approaches.

Where we are today

The arts are not merely icing on the cake. Rather the arts represent a core substance of what it means to be human--to be created and to be creative in the image of God.

Appointed to join Christ in building up the ecclesia for God’s mission

Commissioned by God to continually offer up our creative best, and

Charged to work with others in ways that invites the world to share in the Suffering and the

Glory of God through Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Therefore, we will endeavor to

Create under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit

Imagine with the mind of Christ

Live by the light of the Word of God, and

Be God’s instrument for God’s restoration in the world,
