Almost every country in the world experienced some level of conflict, and at least forty-six of them meet the criteria of at least one severity indicator. Ethnic conflicts affect various factors. Ethnic and religious conflict, being the most intractable problems, results in gross human rights violations, including genocide, economic decline, failure of state, environmental problems, and refugee flows. Violent ethnic conflict leads to tremendous human suffering. Just 2022 saw approximately 72000 fatalities within the top ten countries of conflict.
Every fatality is a soul, which may or may not have experienced the joy of salvation. The church cannot be a silent spectator. How will churches respond?
What are some of the most pressing problems due to ethnic conflicts? Here are some specific responses for which we are inviting artistic impact solutions for the global ecclesia to consider in this season:
Recognition of Ethnic Minorities – The colonization has redrawn the borders of most of the countries during the exit of colonial powers, making the ethnic communities as minorities in their own land. Power Struggle - The ruling class in most of the countries are decided unofficially and in most of the cases does not space for the ethnic minorities and the government usually take an anti minority stand. This has induced struggles for power and has created an inferiority mindset when they lose the struggle. Again, as Christians, one need of inferiority feeling but unwavering boldness. Learn more…
Access to Resources – Most of the territories where the ethnic minorities live would be rich in resources which the ruling class will be eyeing on to plunder thereby making the sons of the soil as the servants. Biblically, land resources are blessings which should be benefitted by the natives
