Work has been delayed a little due to vacations but mulch/soil has been placed. Fence repair and adding the smaller stones will continue over the next week or so.
All extra funds will be transferred to the LONA checking account and will be earmarked for entrance sign maintenance.

Work is complete on the "sign" side. Next up is to prepare the ground and place washed river rock on the fence side. This will be done by the end of this week. Next up will be to repair the fence. To date, we have spent approx. $2700 and we will be under the amount we have in the GoFundMe account.
Once the fence is done, this project will be closed and all remaining funds will be transferred to the LONA checking account earmarked for entrance maintenance and fall planting. If you are able, please continue to donate: https://www.gofundme.com/manage/lona-entrance-beautification
I'll probably only send one more communications via Google group email/FaceBook/NextDoor when the project is closed.
Feel free to reply on any of those channels if you have any questions.

The entrance sign side stones are now installed, as is the fence side. Next up we will need to purchase soil, smaller rocks and fix the fence. I am leaving the GoFundMe page open. Once we finish this phase of the entrance beautification project, money will be transferred to the LONA account earmarked for entrance maintenance. I'll keep you posted... hope you aren't tired of hearing from me yet :)

Stone work on fence side complete. We decided to match the stone on the sign side as it was only a little over budget. But it is worth it to have a cohesive front entrance. Work will continue tomorrow (Thursday). Please consider donating if you haven't - we are about $400 away from goal.

The limestone has been delivered and rocks set out for installation. This is not the final configuration... I just wanted to show progress!

The cover photo for the GoFundMe is of our entrance sign at Oak Knoll & Jollyville Rd. A group of Laurel Oaks Neighborhood Associations neighbors came out in June 2021 to weed, trim, plant, mulch and general cleanup.
The side we are funding for is across the street - we call it the Fence side.
Plans have been drawn up and have been approved by about 15 LONA residents.
Add landscape feature - something similar to the 4th photo below
Repair the fence
The estimate for the materials comes to about $2500 and would like to raise the extra $500 for ongoing maintenance costs and any unforeseen costs. We plan to start work very soon. Please consider donating to the effort!
The Laurel Oaks Neighborhood Association is 100% volunteer organization. As an informal association, we have no regulatory authority and collect no dues. The best way to stay informed is to visit our website sign up for our Google Group. https://sites.google.com/view/laurel-oaks
Thank-you in advance !

HISTORY
Feb 2021
Back in February, this truck smashed into the column and fence we built many years ago. We reported this to the police but the owner of the truck was never found so we were unable to file a claim against their insurance.
The neighborhood came together and cleared out the rubble but now we have a chance to make it beautiful.
