My school has a maximum of 5 children each day with myself as the only teacher. The student:teacher ratio of 5:1, is the limit set by the Ontario government for non-licensed home-based childcare. At a larger childcare centre or preschool the ratio is 8:1 for children 30 to 44 months, with a maximum group size of 24 children.
My preschool takes place on the whole main floor of my house. Large windows make the space bright, and the renovated open concept make it an ideal place to play, eat, learn and do crafts together. There is a main floor bathroom and direct access to the gated driveway and backyard.
Toys, books, puzzles, and other learning materials are put out each morning for the children. The toys and materials change weekly or daily to align with the current theme and to keep things interesting. Toys that encourage creativity, cooperation, problem solving, and imaginative play are always present.
Each morning the children have a snack and lunch. Each child has a designated preschool water bottle that they use each day. I do not claim to serve the children extraordinary diverse organic meals. Instead, I offer healthy food that children like and can easily eat independently. I offer enough variety to cover all the food groups and children's preferences.
Allergies
Food allergies are common and I am happy and willing to accommodate any allergies and food restrictions. During the Covid-19 pandemic we got an amazing kitten named Finnly. While I am allergic myself, if your child has severe cat allergies this may not be the best fit for your child. While Finnly usually stays away, she is very popular and a bit of an obsession with my preschool kids.
During the school year, I am more than happy to host a birthday party during preschool hours for your child in my preschool. These parties are always a lot of fun as I bring out special things, decorate, and we get to eat cupcakes or treats. There is no stress as they are familiar with the space and peers, and there are no parents.
From April to June 2024, my preschool will run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 9am to 12:30pm. This includes a snack and lunch.
Casual extended hours are available upon request
My preschool follows the TDSB School Calendar. The last day of school will be Thursday June 26th, 2025.
My preschool is designed for children who are at least 2 years or older. This means that children can attend the year before entering Junior Kindergarten or for the two years before, if their birthday is earlier in the year.
Each morning of preschool is $54 dollars.
My school is not eligible for government funding subsidies.
This includes 3.5 hours of programming, a healthy snack and lunch.
Added costs for extra days or extended care etc. will be invoiced.
