I am a graduate from the University of Helsinki, Finland with a Master’s degree in English Linguistics and Education. My minor subjects included translation, French philology and cultural studies. This was a five year full-time programme that equipped me with an excellent foundation in linguistics and communication. In addition to this, I studied French philology at the University of Montreal in Canada. I am also a graduate of Mäkelänrinne Sports High School and the French - Finnish School of Helsinki.
I have been working as a freelance translator for several years, completing projects for various companies. My projects have ranged from legal documents to film subtitles, and my most recent projects include creating Finnish subtitles for English and French films that will be released on Netflix. I have experience in using MemoQ, Ooona Translation Manager, Subtitle Edit and Smartcat.
My highlights include extensive experience of teaching and leading in one of the leading private schools in Panama City. Before moving to Panama, I was teaching English and translating at La Salle University, Leon, Nicaragua. In addition, I taught English at various schools in Finland including the International School, where I prepared students for international exams. I also undertook some translating and tutoring work at the University of Montreal and during my work placement in Australia.
I have developed advanced customer service management skills working at Disneyland Paris, Nordea Bank Helsinki, Helsinki International Airport and in the hotel sector in the UK.
In my free time, I surf and enjoy Panamanian nature. I am a former Finnish junior and senior karate champion and Silver Medallist at the WKF World Championships.
