Laughing Bear Cottages is a small, family-run, vacation rental business that has been in the same family for nearly 75 years. Nestled into the woods on Squam Lake, the cottages provide a relaxing retreat!
Squam Lake is just across the street with a private, walk-in sandy beach. We're within walking distance of the center of town and the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, and a short drive or boat ride away from the rest of Squam and the whole lakes region!
Laughing Bear Cottages offers three charming homes: The Main House, Mama Bear, and Papa Bear. (Baby Bear is the shed!)

The Main House
The main house is a 2 Bedroom (plus a loft) and 2 Bathroom home that sleeps 9. Equipped with a full kitchen, living room, laundry room, a fun-filled basement, office, and a large porch overlooking the lake, Laughing Bear's Main house is the perfect home base for your family's lake vacation.
The Cottages
Built in 1951 and lovingly known as "Mama Bear" and "Papa Bear", these rustic cottages sleep 2-4 people in a open-concept space.
The cottages can be rented separately or in addition to the Main House.
Papa Bear Cottage
Nestled into the trees on a small hill, Papa Bear Cottage overlooks Squam Lake, which is just about 100ft away!
Mama Bear Cottage
Further up on the property, Mama Bear Cottage has space out front with a picnic table to sit under the trees.
Laughing Bear Beach
Rental of any of the cottages comes with access to Laughing Bear's private beach and dock across the street (shared with other Laughing Bear Cottages renters). Two single kayaks are available. Dock space for a boat is available for a fee.
