Más allá de la cuarentena en América Latina, nuevas formas de organización y luchas

Este evento busca indagar en torno a cómo se ha transformado el activismo en América Latina. ¿Qué obstáculos hay en la organización y lucha por los derechos y reconocimiento? Si bien la pandemia del Covid-19 restringe las posibilidades de la acción colectiva en la “calle”, esperamos poder discutir qué opciones han surgido desde el activismo y los movimientos populares para seguir luchando por el cambio social.

Les invitades Silvia, Soledad y Manuel abordarán desde una perspectiva crítica sus reflexiones sobre la lucha migrante y la organización invisible de las mujeres, la apropiación del territorio y la reconfiguración espacial en América Latina, enfatizando el papel de los movimientos sociales en el contexto actual.

Las exposiciones se realizarán en español. Sin embargo, luego de cada presentación, se hará una síntesis en inglés. Asimismo, el equipo organizador irá tomando notas en vivo en inglés. Las preguntas e intervenciones del público participante podrán ser realizadas tanto en inglés como en español. Haremos lo posible por facilitar el intercambio bilingüe.

Beyond the quarantine in Latin America, new forms of social organisation and struggles

This event explores how activism has changed in Latin America and the obstacles faced by social movements and struggles for rights and recognition. While the Covid-19 pandemic has restricted the possibilities for collective action in the “streets”, we hope to discuss the options that have surged from activism and social movements to keep fighting for social change.

Our guests Silvia, Soledad and Manuel will engage from a critical perspective with the struggles of migrants, the invisible organisation of women, the appropriation of territory and spatial reconfiguration in Latin America, emphasising the state of the art of social movements.

The event will be held primarily in Spanish. To support a better understanding of international audiences, we will summarise the arguments in English after each presentation. Additionally, the organizing team will be taking live notes in English. We welcome questions and interventions from the audience in both English and Spanish. We do our best to facilitate a bilingual exchange.
