Hiring Trends

Job Outlook
Overall employment of radiologic and MRI technologists is projected to grow 9 percent from 2018 to 2028, faster than the average for all occupations. As the population grows older, there will be an increase in medical conditions that require imaging as a tool for making diagnoses. However, I will add that current nanotechnology, requires less radiologist physicians to actually read the images that the technologist acquire, because the computer does the reading for them and all one doctor has to do is sign off on it. For example the computer will say that it did not find any abnormalities in the Mammography images.
Some images are not diagnostic, meaning they do not need a doctor's diagnosis, such as an Ultra Sound of a baby. So many Ultrasound technologist are opening their own 3D Ultrasound business for families that want to see how their baby will look when they get here.
