1989-12-02 Flyer for the Underground 10th anniversary party, staged at Bert’s Second Story, a vintage furniture store upstairs in the building that later became the Arts Factory. The Underground was located on Maryland Parkway and was Vegas’ premier store selling punk music. Wayne Coyner, who owned the Underground, welcomed other creative people than punks into his orbit. For the anniversary party, he invited 100 or so people, many of whom had never met, to mix and match. It was a head’s up that downtown had potential for artists. Bert’s Second Story had previously hosted illegal punk shows, notably a performance by the pre-famous Chumbawomba.
