LARCS Students - Fall 2023

A Day at LARCS with Miss Meriah

“Greet your students by name and with a smile” is one of the things I try to remember daily, and even though my days often begin with feathers and stories of McDonald’s and the swimming pool and requests to play with my decorative “Legos,” I am happy to see each kindergartener and 1st grader in my class.

We jump right in with a combined phonics and numbers class, then transition to the children’s favorite class, Bible (often interrupted by requests to use the bathroom and help with buttoning the uniform shirt, or shoes mysteriously falling off). After Bible, we head outside for our 15-minute break.  Sometimes the children will grab a snack, but usually they’re in a hurry to just get out and play some sort of game that involves an incredible amount of screaming. We finish our break and go back upstairs to tackle history and art.  Before we even know it, it’s time to clean up and go downstairs for lunch with the rest of the students.

Mr. Beiler ends our lunchtime by having us all sing a song together and then the kindergartners go play outside until their parents arrive to pick them up and the high school and middle school go to PE.

I then teach middle school history and afterward spend time with our 1st grader in our reading and spelling class before she gets to take a nap.  Meanwhile, Miss Keyla and I try to get a head start on some upcoming craft projects.

Our school day ends with the teachers walking the students to the gate and waving goodbye.

Days at LARCS - More Than Mere Academics.

Each day is a new opportunity to mentor and disciple young lives as they learn about life

and the God Who gave it to them.

Each day is a chance to see God's plan unfold in the lives of the students.

Each day is another opportunity to grow in grace and to reflect God's love.

And each day is another opportunity to joy in both the humorous and thoughtful perspectives of children.

According to one 2nd grader's understanding of Psalm 23, God will “prepare a table before me in the presidents of my enemies.”
And “surely goodness gracious will follow me…”

Overheard during Bible class

Teacher:  What did Jesse say when Samuel asked him if he had any other sons?
Kindergartener:  ‘I kind of do!’

"Thank You for bringing us to this time of the day.  It’s the best part because we get to learn about You."

-5th grader's prayer during Bible class

“Thank you for giving us another day of life.  Please protect the people around the world who don’t know you.
Thank you that you are good to us even when we don’t deserve it.  Give Mr. Brendon wisdom as he teaches…”

-6th grader's first prayer at school

"God has changed me."

-6th grader reflecting at the end of the school year

“Grow our faith up to you!”  one student prayed before Bible class.

What a joy and privilege to glimpse God doing just that in the everyday moments at LARCS.
