The Metropolitan Division is an elite division of the Los Angeles Police Department under its Special Operations Group. It is responsible for managing the LAPD’s specialized crime suppression (TRT), K-9, mounted, and SWAT units. These highly trained officers provide a ready response to situations that are beyond the capabilities of normally equipped and trained Department personnel.

The Detective Bureau of the Los Angeles Police Department is responsible for all operations to do with investigations and gang related activity within the City of Los Angeles and oversees the 21 geographical detective divisions. The Detective Bureau is a group of divisions which all focus on individual tasks and operations. Here we have the Robbery and Homicide Division (RHD) and the Gang and Narcotics Division (GND).
