Nurses Honoring Nurses

Our Mission: To recognize those individuals who have dedicated their lives to the profession of nursing, the Louisiana Nurse Honor Guard provides comfort to the family and lets them, as well as the community, know the value of each nurse. The Louisiana Nurse Honor Guard considers it a privilege to participate in the memorial services of fellow nurses and celebrate their years of service. The Honor Guard will provide all services free of charge to bereaved families.

Vision: A community of nurses, together at funeral or memorial services, honoring all fallen colleagues who were dedicated to the nursing profession in Louisiana.

Our History:

In 2020, the Louisiana Nurse Honor Guard was founded by Clelie Dugan, PhD, RN. Clelie recruited members to her local chapter (Northshore) and recruited volunteers to form chapters in Alexandria and Shreveport. From there, the Guard expanded to Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Monroe, Houma, New Orleans, and Lake Charles. Collectively, we have over 200 members. Our chapters conduct funeral honors and living tributes all over the state.
