CC-10 (origins) is a horror adventure game where players play as a Chloe; the sole survivor of a lab experiment gone wrong. Clueless, Chloe struggles to find answers by exploring the lab. This task won’t be easy since Chloe will have to find clues and hints through notes to solve puzzles. She will find areas she didn’t even know existed in the lab and after some exploration, she will analyze the information she got from the notes to make a hypothesis of what could’ve caused the disaster. CC-10 stands for Cell Catalyst experiment 10.
CC-10 origins is highly inspired by the visual aesthetic and storyline of resident evil games.
The story is set in a wrecked laboratory on a far-off island. The laboratory has fairly advanced technology and it is highly tech based. You can find chemistry and biology equipment in the lab as well as vessels containing human mutants and bacteria.
This story follows Chloe, the sole survivor of a lab experiment gone wrong. The story begins when she wakes up to find the laboratory in a wreck. Chloe’s goal is to explore the lab to figure out what went wrong and find an escape to warn the inhabitants of the island that mutants have been let loose.
Chloe, the main character of the game, is an analytical middle-aged woman who works as a lab scientist on an island. Her work involves collaborating with other scientists to create human mutants.
Chloe’s main goal is to uncover the full story behind the mutant’s escape and escape the lab to warn the civilians of the island. Players will Gather items to solve puzzles and open rooms that lead to more clues about the disaster while also getting closer to the final exit.
Most useful items in the game aren’t hidden in plain sight, so players will have to explore the lab to find these items and solve puzzles. Solving puzzles will be another challenge for players as they will have to use their logic to figure out which items solves each puzzle. Players will also have to pay close attention to the narrative told through the scientists' notes to help them solve the puzzles.
Once players solve each puzzle or proceed to another room in the lab, the story behind the mutant’s escape becomes clearer and clearer. Solving puzzles and uncovering the narrative will also lead the player closer to escaping the lab and warning the inhabitants of the island.
Overall, making this game was a big challenge as I had to become familiar with so many new tools and finish the project in 2 months. Making this game was my first time ever using unreal engine and getting familiar with this program was very challenging yet it felt fulfilling to finally understand the basics of using it. I also learned a lot about 3D models and materials while making this project. I am very proud of the final visual aesthetic of this game because my main goal was to visually immerse the player into the world of this game. I do wish I made more intricate mechanics while making this game but I believe the mechanics I created suited the gameplay and narrative of the game nicely.
3d models from sketchfab and. 3d character is olivia from mixamo and materials from unreal engine.
