Hello my name is Lanna and I am an Interactive Media ARts (IMA) student In DAWSON COLLEGE. One of the reasons I chose this program was because I love art and Digital media and I felt IMA combines these two elements perfectly for me to express my creativity. My current goal is to make it into the Computation Arts program in Concordia since it is a more advanced version of what my peers and I are currently doing in IMA. I love being creative and because of this, i love to explore and learn new skills. 

I believe my love for digital media and art began in My Computer Science class in high school. In this class we had to create a video game in a team of 4 using construct 3. As the only girl in a team of 3 boys, I realized the boys already had a predetermined idea that i might not know much about video games and that i wouldn't be of much help in the team. At first, one of the boys was in charge of being the programmer for the game while the rest of us were assigned to draw game assets or look for sound effects and music. I was satisfied with my task but I realized that our team's programmer didn't have a lot of confidence in his skills so I suggested to take his role. When I took the programming role, I became very invested. I learned to do things I never thought I would do before. Not only was I programming, I was drawing game assets as well as giving an art direction of the game's style to my team. By making video games I learned how to code and how to make basic 2d animations. This was an awakening for me because this was when I first realized that I could make my art works interactive! I loved art and i had a fascination for digital media but i was unsure if i could do both. However, it was in this class that I realized that there were endless ways of combing art and digital media. This was the realization that led me to apply to the IMA program in Dawson and I plan on continuing this journey in the Computation Arts program in Concordia.
