Below are the outreach activities that I have been involved in throughout my time at Clemson. Some are directly related to life on campus, while others were outside of campus and directly impacted my time at Clemson.
During Fall 2025-Spring 2026, I was elected the president of the American Sign Language Club at Clemson. Monthly, I held meetings with my board to discuss the events we would host. With extensive planning, we were able to maintain our tradition of signing the national anthem at a home-football game. We held training for an entire month prior, and had a large group of people participate. We were also able to raise funds for the club through designing and distributing merchandise for our club. I was requried to understand many laws and work with Tiger Town Graphics in order to accomplish this. We also hosted other events such as Signing Starbucks, local restaurants events such as YourPie, game nights, and our very popular DINGO (Deaf Bingo) event. At the end of each semester, we recognize members who were impactful and involved. Throughout my time as ASL club president, I learned important leadership and people management skills, and gained confidence in myself.
From August 2025-December 2025, I worked with the organization SC Beginnings to tutor children who sign in grades K-12. I worked directly with my wonderful mentor Kelli Graham in order to ensure that I had the skills and support I needed to tutor these children. I worked with kids from as young as elementary school through upper-level high school. Weekly, I would hold Zoom sessions with students to tutor them in areas identified by their Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) or their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). We worked through a variety of subjects, and I completed a total of 54 hours of planning and tutoring throughout the semester. This improved not only my receptive and expressive ASL skills, but allowed me to think critically about those learning English as a second language.
As part of my time at Clemson, I was always seeking ways to improve my signing abilities. Every month, I made the trip to Greenville to participate in their Signing Starbucks Events. These gave me the extra opportunity to meet people and engage with the Deaf community. At this event, I was able to take what I learned in the classroom and apply it to the real world.

In this position, I learned so much about how to promote wellbeing around Clemson's campus. I learned about the variety of forms that wellbeing can take, such as emotional, environmental, social, financial, intellectual, physical, occupational, and spiritual. I worked around 10 hours per week on a variety of projects with my mentor, Bill Dunn. We held several events such as S'more nights, Sunrise/Sunset yoga, and massage gun sessions. This internship allowed me to hold a greater appreciation for wellbeing and getting people involved on campus.
