PARENT'S CORNER

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

We look forward to helping you and your son or daughter with their plans for success during their high school years and after graduation. As the parent it is suggested that you be of comfort to your student by keeping them focused on their goals and take an active role by asking your child if you can be involved in organizing and assisting. Completing the various college applications can be cumbersome and tedious however you as the parent can provide the organizational structure needed to make the process seem effortless.

Remember, your child is now entering adulthood and this is the beginning stage of entering that period. Let your child learn and grow from this experience.

Check out the resources posted below to help answer any questions and do not hesitate to contact us regarding any of the information, we will be glad to assist.

Best Wishes,

Lane Tech Counseling Department

SchooLinks

SchooLinks is a modern, student-centric college and career planning platform that helps CPS students in grades 6-12 and families to align personal interests and aspirations with preparation for life beyond high school. Overtime, students will build a personalized portfolio, complete career interest inventories, set goals, search for and apply to colleges and other postsecondary options, find scholarships, track earned certificates and credentials, tap into internship opportunities, develop a robust resume, and much, much more.

Individual Learning Plans for Grades 6-12

In our firm commitment to support students to prepare for the next stage in life beyond high school, Individual Learning Plans (ILP) have been programmed in SchooLinks – a set of career exploration and readiness activities assigned to students in grades 6 through 12. ILP activities align postsecondary readiness in three domains:
