MOOD AND SONG IN ORDER
Music preference is believed to contribute to a person's sense of social identity by serving as a social "badge" of group membership. As a result, social identity theory predicts that people will view others more favorably than those who do not share their musical preferences. We associate a music with our prior events when we listen to it. As a result, we are better able to define our sense of who we are and what we aspire to become in the future. The music and moods at these various locales vary. The patrons who frequent and hang out there may feel a connection to each atmosphere in a different way. I think it has an effect on health, depression, spending, output, and how we see the world. Some even contend that it may foster criminal behavior or thoughts of aggression. Something I can relate to since I feel like listening to more intensely negative rap fuels my resentment and general negativity, which other people then channel and put into action.
I believe the younger audience is more affected by the ban on songs with "adult content." Although some adults don't like it either, they would probably want the youth to be better safeguarded. Depending on my mood, I believe I naturally relate to each of the various issues, such as sex, violence, and suicide. I only really listen to hip-hop and r&b, especially from artists like Summer Walker and others who speak to me personally. She sings primarily about issues with relationships, sex, and drugs. Which, for me personally, I adore because it gives me a sense of freedom and connection to the planet, as though I'm not the only one experiencing this feeling, circumstance, or thought. It seems like those types of songs give me the okay to have "dangerous" moments or unsafe living life on the edge moments, especially when it comes to more "risky" issues like those. I only truly listen to "aggressive" music—typically rap—when I'm upset or need a boost of energy. This notably applies to the musician I listen to. Usually when I'm angry or irritated, I listen to music that's aggressive and talks about fighting, etc. because it helps me get out that energy without acting on it. I now listen to it when I'm trying to get up or when I need to be hyped up before going out with my friends because it simply bombards you with so much energy that you can't help but get hyped up. Generally, I would say that I enjoy dangerous music since it is rather open. Not everything is sunshine and rainbows, and I believe that when someone is feeling "dangerous," they need an outlet. As I previously stated, doing so helps me channel my sentiments rather than acting on them. It just depends on the individual, and I'm aware that's not the case for everyone, but I believe we should accept it because it's a fact of life.
Even before I learned the tik tok dance, I mentally prepared for a mix of fatigue, annoyance, and excitement. The drawback to learning the dances, aside from remembering the routines, is that we practice for hours whenever my friend wants to do a dance. I did occasionally stop while I was learning the dance to collect my breath. When I did sit down, my friend would nag me to get back up and continue learning, while my other friend would laugh at me as she watched us. My other two friends told me they have been performing tik tok dances for a while when I interviewed them. They typically pick up the newest dancing moves and go with the flow, uploading videos occasionally just for fun. They are extremely joyful and energized while creating these films. One of my pals described how the music just makes them feel so alive that they can't help but dance. Not to mention how entertaining and catchy the accompanying dances are. Rewatching the producers themselves is the only method to verify if they are doing it correctly. With so many variations of a single dance, that is also the only way you can learn the dance correctly. The only option is to apply what was already established. They claimed that it is difficult for today's youth to not be a part of this vibrant tiktok community. Not to add that doing these dances is enjoyable and occasionally beneficial as exercise. Since practically everyone has a tik tok and does these dances everywhere, it would be tough to resist the urge to perform one. I was thrilled to be moving and to have learned the dance after filming the video, but I also felt exhausted from all the movement and from having to record and practice so many times. But it was worthwhile because I felt like I was able to connect with my friends through music and movement, in addition to learning a dance.
I made the choice to go to Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Being able to return to my roots after a lengthy absence was incredibly gratifying. I used to regularly attend church when I was younger. I participated in praise dances, I sang in the chorus, and once I even experienced the Holy Spirit. Even though I was surrounded by strangers, while we thanked God, they seemed like family. I recently went to an arena football game with a live band and DJ at the Greensboro Coliseum. Before the game began, there was a tailgate outdoors where guests could play games and enjoy food and music. I was able to communicate with the majority of people outside. Everyone supported the Cobras, the host team, and was tremendously eager for the game. That traditional cookout music was being played outside. Everyone would get up and dance while they were enjoying each other's company while they played the shuffle and the wobble. It made me feel like I belonged even though we were total strangers. As they played the player introductions and got everyone warmed up, the game began at four, to the great excitement of all. The band sang the national anthem and played throughout halftime. However, when they played, everyone got this jolt of excitement and began to dance and support them. The same thing happened when the DJ started playing the well-known Sway and Surf tune; you could see people dancing throughout the entire building.
