My name is .... I am in 6th grade. I started Louis Armstrong in September 2019. At first I was scared of starting middle school because I thought I was not going to make any friends, get good grades, or have sweet teachers. I was shocked because I made good friends, have excellent grades, and have wonderful teachers.

My friends at Louis Armstrong are good to me because they help me and support me when it’s needed. I also help them and support them when they need to be supported. My friends at this school never let me down and I do not let them down.

Since starting at I.S 227 my grades have improved tremendously!When I was in elementary school, I only received 1’s and 2’s but at I.S. 227 I am getting 80, 90, and 100’s. My grades have improved because of my wonderful teachers. The teachers are kind and respectful to all of us.Teachers at this school, teach us with love and when we feel sad they help us feel better. They are funny , they make us laugh, they have wonderful books and a nice classroom.

Remote learning has been sad because I do not get to see my friends and teachers in person. However, I get to see my teachers and classmates by using google meets. We talk and work like we used to do in school. My teachers help us but for me going to school and sitting at my desk with my teachers present is irreplaceable. I am grateful for continuing to learn during this tough time. Stay Safe and be careful.

I wanted to write this letter to tell you I miss being at school.I love IS 227. The reason I love I.S. 227 is because my dad went to I.S.227 for middle school.When I walk into the building it reminds me of him. However, I also enjoy being a student at I.S.227 because I like the variety of programs there are at I.S.227.For example, the after school art program and music class.

Now, let me tell you about my awesome sixth grade teachers at I.S.227. First, there’s you Ms. ..... Ms. .... (ELA) you are as funny as a comedy show. You can be strict but it is because you want us to succeed in life. Next, you have the fabulous math teacher, Ms. .... She always has a bubbly side but don’t push her buttons or her bubbly side will disappear :) Lastly, you have the amazing science teacher, Ms. .... She can stir up any joke at random times but like Ms. ...., she has high standards for work. Ms. .... does amazing science experiments that will blow your socks off.

I enjoy going to school and I really miss school! Thank you for taking the time to read my letter .I hope you will inform other parents and students about my letter. So their little one join the L.A.M.S family soon.

My name is .... I have been in Louis Armstrong since 5th grade, right now I am in 6th grade. Louis Armstrong is a great school. The things I like about Louis Armstrong are meeting new teachers, feeling safe, and making new friends.

The teachers are helpful at this school. Right now I am in 6th grade and I have enjoyed being in Ms. .... ELA class. Ms. .... is helpful and funny. She takes her time helping students learn ELA.

Louis Armstrong is a safe place for students.I have felt safe during my time at this school. The students here are friendly and nice. I trust my friends and teachers at I.S 227 Louis Armstrong Middle School.

Thank you for continuing the hard work with the kids under these difficult circumstances. Tien loves the sessions you added of all the class meetings together and talking to each other. I was touched by your concern to the kids, about if they are eating well, sleeping, moving. We forget how our teachers protect all our kids, and are there day in and day out, to make sure our kids are healthy, and thrive. Thank you for the hard work you do every single day.

Also, Tien is LOVING all the projects you are giving out. He loves doing the research and sometimes going onto a rabbit hole, like finding out about his great-grandparents. :-)

Zion and I saw the video you sent. I am aware that he has some missing work and received low grades in a few assignments. I've been working extremely hard with Zion lately and will make sure that he gets caught up with those assignments as soon as possible! For the most part, Zion has been doing all of his work independently, but I provide support if needed. It is difficult working with students that need extra attention and still have to do your own work as well.

I appreciate teachers like you and Ms. ....

We all know these are difficult times. Ms. Ponella and the New York City school system have done a tremendous job accommodating students' needs. I appreciate everything you have done as Monica's teacher too.

We are doing well and had a relatively smooth transition to remote work and remote schooling thanks to your dedicated teachers and staff. Thank you for everything you do.

Also, thank you for the LAMS Family video clip. We watched it last week and it made Nora feel special, and made her happy and smile as she saw her teachers waving and greeting. As her parent I saw the connection and bond between her and LAMS. She also misses being in school and seeing her teachers and friends in person, but thanks to her teachers dedication and commitment, she continues learning remotely.

Dear Mrs. Exarhos,

I'm writing this message to let you know how thankful we all are for all the help you and all of her other teachers have given Faith these past few months. She looks forward to her google meetings with everyone. I remember when we got the phone call that they had a seat for sixth grade. We were so happy because all of our boy’s went there and my husband and I couldn't be happier with the results. They all got a wonderful education. The first bus ride was long but well worth it and things haven't changed. Faith was so happy there and can't wait to get back to I.S 227. She really misses seeing her teachers and friends in person but for now the staff at I. S227 Is doing a phenomenal job.

Although Nathaniel misses being at Louis Armstrong Middle school his teacher Miss Rodriguez has been a wonder in helping him transition from school based learning to remote learning. Miss Rodriguez takes the time out to do one on one meetings through zoom and creates assignments that are stimulating and keeps them engaged and interested in ELA. I want to say thank you to all the teachers that have taken the extra step in engaging daily.
