The Walpole Island Brass Band was formed around 1900, according to saxophone player Harry Williams. There were about twenty band members. They practiced every Sunday afternoon in the council hall. Harry's father Bob was the music leader. Music and instruments were donated through the town of Wallaceburg and the Walpole Island parish. They were invited by neighbouring towns to play concerts, and they played on boat excursions on the St. Clair River. At many of the concerts, the band members wore their "Indian costumes". The band folded in the late 1940's.
