Lamb of God is an Easter oratorio telling the New Testament story of Jesus's ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection. Two narrators lead the audience through stirring scripture passages, while 13 soloists portray the roles of his friends and enemies with lyrics that resonate across a spectrum of human experience. Exquisite choral harmonies illustrate the power and miracles of the gospel message, while the role of the Savior himself is played in rich, beautiful melodies on the solo cello.
Composer Rob Gardner described his process like this: "My thought was to tell the story of the last days of the life of Jesus Christ through the experiences of those who witnessed them–those He knew and loved. It was most interesting to me to see what their decisions, their actions and their interactions with Him teach us about the Savior Himself. And it was important to me that Hope shine through even the darkest moments."
