Ryan has an Educational Specialists Degree and a K-12 Administration license he also has a masters degree in education and a bachelors degree in elementary education. He has over 13 years experience as an educator and coach. Ryan started his hockey career as a member of the Alexandria Cardinals. He was a team captain for the 1995 conference champions. He also earned All-Conference and Section honors. Ryan then went on to play two seasons for Fargo in the USHL. Following juniors Ryan played Division 1 Hockey for the Minnesota State University, Mankato Mavericks. Ryan received multiple honors while in college, he was a Maverick Achievement Award winner, four time WCHA All Academic team member, and three time hardest worker award recipient. Prior to his senior year Ryan was also voted a captain by his teammates. After his college hockey days Ryan played professionally for three years in Fort Wayne IN. While playing for the Fort Wayne Komets the team won two regular season championships and one playoff championship. He earned multiple individual accolades as well, including Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Player, and multiple Hardest Worker awards. Ryan has many experiences of coaching at all levels of hockey and baseball. He was a varsity head hockey coach for five years and a JV baseball coach for 7 years. He also has over ten years of hockey instruction with athletes from 5 years old all the way through college level skaters.
