Team Second Exit includes any Lake California Property Owner and any Resident who want a better Lake California Drive and a needed safety second exit.
Together we are stronger.
Maria is the main lead who started working on the fight for a second exit after attending a Lake California (LC ) Board of Directors meeting in July of 2018 shortly after the Shasta County Carr Fire tragedy. At this meeting, Maria shared a drafted directional road map to widen the existing main intersection of Lake California Drive as a means of road safety while the Community as a whole stressed the high importance of an additional safety need of a second exit.
Maria attended the Tehama County Board of Supervisors meeting held September 25, 2018 and decided that the need for Lake California's second access road became critically emergent and it was time to fall into action! After the catastrophe of the Paradise Camp Fire in November 2018, it became evident to enlist the help of others. The Team met in January of 2019 and the beginning of Lake California Team Second Exit and its movement towards our safety was on its way. While beginning the work for the second access road, our Team recently has been working together with our Community after being informed of the 2019 Draft of the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). The utmost importance that Lake California be placed into this Plan as a Constrained status to serve as a great aid for our roads safety and costs is extremely important and time sensitive. After the completion of the RTP movement, LC Team Second Exit will continue working the second access road and planned projects for the LC Community safety needs. Please use the "Contact Us" tab located at the top of the web page for your convenience to submit your name and manner of contact preference to receive future Team and Community meeting notifications so we remain up-to-date being informed together.
Lake California Team Second Exit (LC TSE) is a group of Lake California Property Owners and Residents, motivated by recent fires and storms. Along with the past efforts of other Lake California committees, who are focused on safety for all, especially the children. Our main goal is having a second access road which will require eminent domain, grants, other sources of funding, and huge efforts on the part of the Community. Lake California Team Second Exit will continue its work towards accomplishing this huge safety need which includes help from our Lake California Community Members and other concerned parties. We will not give up! An additional goal is the prompt improvement of the existing Lake California Drive so it meets Caltrans standards. Along Lake California Drive, the trees need to be removed and the road needs to be rebuilt and widened, as does the intersection at Bowman Road, Main Street, and I-5 North.
This is NOT a partisan endeavor. We are not identifying as Democrats or Republicans, Liberals or Conservatives, or Independents. We are non-political in our motives. We are for the Community, by the Community and with the Community for the betterment of our Community and its safety.
Instead of ideology and division, we are unified in our purpose and rally around the common cause of SAFETY. All interested parties are encouraged to join with us through letter writing, attending meetings, and sharing ideas. We are asking people who may disagree with one another politically or personally to come together for this much needed cause! There’s something for everyone and we ALL are needed working together to reach the goal. - Thank You.
Lake California Team Second Exit works directly with its Community supporters including those who live and work outside of Lake California. We cannot do this hard work without your support, and Lake California Team Second Exit thanks all of our supporters! It may take some time, but together we can get it done! Just in the same way, we accomplished the Lake California Firewise National Designation by working long hours and staying the course, this too will get done! Stay tuned and watch for updates concerning our mission and to see how you can become a part to help us get our needed safety second exit!
