Great care is taken when planning and scheduling classes for performances and rehearsals. Consideration and thoughtful planning are lengthy processes we have crafted for three decades when planning our shows. The process does take time, but it eliminates most conflicts before the shows are announced. This process allows for ample seating for each show, adequate changing time for dancers, and allows each audience to see dancers of all ages and different techniques. Read on for more information about the show scheduling.
Our Spring Shows are designed to give each dancer a professional performance experience with high-quality lighting, sound, and performance space with a variety of ages and styles of dance in each show.
Each class has been assigned to perform in one show and is scheduled for one rehearsal session. Training division classes may be scheduled in multiple shows to accommodate dancers who take multiple levels or different levels for their technique.
Classes have been assigned a show to perform in; this can be found in the purple tables below.
All dates and times are subject to change and modification until tickets go on sale.
Pre-Pointe does not perform in the show. Pointe 1 teachers will determine if the class will perform a dance based on progress.
Select, Premiere, and Elite/Pre-Professional teams have been assigned one or more shows to perform in. The assignments are listed in the charts below.
Our competition teams are formed with dancers from all of our studio locations. Because of this, some competition dances are placed in several shows so that all or most of the team members have the opportunity to have their competition dance with their show dances.
Dancers are required to perform in each show that they are scheduled to perform in
Part of the planning process for show assignments is working to schedule students from the same family in the same show. If children are in different shows for their regular classes, we have arranged to have the shows back to back and allow your family to maintain their seats for both shows. Complete information will be shared via email before ticket sales begin.
Dances learned in Private Lessons that are not competed will automatically be placed in the show that their regular classes are in.
Each solo, duet, and trio choreographed by Lake Shore Dance in private lessons will be a part of one of our Spring Production shows.
Each piece may be in one show only.
Each show has a specific number of slots open for private lesson dances. This is determined by the number of dances assigned to the show and the amount of time remaining in each show staying within the predetermined maximum show length.
Solos will only be scheduled for shows when your account is current.
Senior pieces: Graduating seniors may choreograph and perform a piece as a farewell and culmination of their time at Lake Shore Dance. These pieces will be featured in the awards show for their location and the seniors do not need to use this process for their senior project.
Solos, duets, and trios that perform only in the Spring show (not competition) will be automatically assigned to the show the child’s technique classes are in. If you would like the dance in a different show, please follow the steps below.
You select the performance that you would like your child to perform in. Performance spots are limited. To allow equal opportunity for all locations, sign-up will be online through our website. Sign-up automatically begins at 7:30 PM. Any registrations that are time-stamped before the sign-up opening time will be dropped, weand you will need to re-register for a spot. You will select the show you wish to have your child dance in by “registering” for the show as you would register for a class. There will be a limited number of slots available for each show. Duets should only take one spot.
Dancers may sign up for one piece only in the first sign-up.
Competition Solos, Duets, and Trios are not required to perform in the show. If you don’t sign up your solo, duet, or trios with these methods, we will assume that the piece will not be performed in any show.
Here’s how you do this:
Log in to the parent portal.
Click on “Find Classes” (there will be 2 rectangles on your dashboard when you log in. The right one says “Looking for a class?” Under that header is a green button that says “Find classes”).
On the next screen, click on the birthday cake icon that says “Find Events”.
On this new screen, under your location, Set “Show me events at… to “All Locations”. A list of all available shows will appear under the blue box. *If you do not see the show you are looking for, all of the spots have been taken, and you will need to select a new one.
Click on the line item with the date and time you are looking for.
Add the event to the cart.
Select the student that this enrollment applies to (only your children will appear).
Answer the questions and any additional information (rarely, we can add pieces to full shows if time is available. You can write this information here.)
Scroll back to the top of this screen (it is green) and Select Add.
Select “Checkout now”.
Click “Accept Enrollment Fees and Continue”. There is no charge or fee for signing up; this simply completes your registration.
All done! You are set with that one piece. If you have additional pieces to sign up for, continue to the next steps below.
On April 8, beginning at 7:30 PM, you may also submit a Google Form to select your preference for performance slots for additional private lesson dances that your child has.
Please complete one form for each additional private lesson dance.
Please select one member of the piece to submit this form. The duet or trio will only be performed in one show.
All spots are reserved based on the order the request was received, as determined by the timestamp of the Google form submission. Forms submitted before the opening date and time will be deleted.
You will be informed of the final placement of additional dances as the lineups are confirmed.
