HISTORY

In the 20th century, Second-Generation Lai Moon Grandmaster Sai Khin Thaung Naing joined the Myanmar Martial Arts Federation in 1969 and founded the Ta’ang Lai Moon Martial Arts Association in Lower Myanmar, at No. 4, Lower 14th Street, Lanmadaw Township, Yangon.

As a second-generation master, he trained and produced many generations of Lai Moon practitioners, responsibly transmitting the martial knowledge and traditions. He actively promoted and demonstrated the ten Lai Moon martial arts systems through film, music, traditional culture, and public ceremonial events, teaching and passing on the art through public performance and instruction.

At the 50th Golden Jubilee Ceremony of the Myanmar Martial Arts Federation, he presented a research paper on the Ten Shan Martial Arts, representing Shan State. He also served as the Chief Master during the 50th Anniversary of Lai Moon and the 90th Birthday Celebration of Grandmaster U Ta Dee San Aye.

In the 21st century, responsibility for the central Lai Moon martial arts organization based in Namhsan Township, Southern Shan State, has been continued by Chief Master Ta Saya Ba Thaung, the younger brother of Lai Moon Grandmaster  Ta Dee San Aye, who carries on the lineage and leadership.

To promote the continued development and generational transmission of Lai Moon martial knowledge and practice in the 21st century, Third-Generation Master Sai Ye Kyaw Thu, the head of the Yangon Branch, is currently sharing, teaching, and passing on the basic Lai Moon martial arts and the Ten Martial Systems, both within Myanmar and internationally.
