Objectives

The aim of the LAI-ESTRA is twofold:

1. Understand how different social cues (gestures, interpersonal space, facial expression and gaze) are processed by individuals. This involves deciphering:

- How inner and instrumental gestures are processed according to the social context.

- How peripersonal space is represented, influences cognitive activity and modulates interpersonal distances depending on the social context.

- How facial expression and familiarity are processed and contribute to social interactions.

2. Understand how individual’s emotional regulation abilities affect social interactive behaviours. This involves deciphering:

- How emotional regulation abilities relate to social abilities

- How stressful social situations lead to disruptions in emotional regulation processes

- How the physiological processes associated with emotional regulation develop across life in different social contexts. To understand whether these processes occur differently in individuals with high versus low emotional regulation capacity.
