He taught us indigenous knowledge and practices to help us reconnect with the earth, heal, and live simply.

Lagitan is his indigenous name which means to make “dark.”

There I journeyed with what my eyes can only see behind my eyelids.

So humbling.

The memories and connections made are held so close to my heart. I am full and grateful and reminded of the purpose as to why I choose this path that I am on.

Bilang isang steward ng tradition, and land ngayon sa panahon ng impluwensya ng colonization ay isang pagsubok and opportunity. Uncle Mamerto does his best to preserve culture, and educate young generation, and help reconnect his community to their culture. P.S. Just wanted to share this experience. What a wonderful experience to reconnect with a culture. I may not have come from here, I still learned and possibly opened with hope.

And I met Apu Mamerto "Lagitan" Tindongan Mamerto Tindongan. One of the important people in Ifugao culture. As a steward of tradition, and land today during the influence of colonization is a challenge and opportunity. Uncle Mamerto does his best to preserve culture, and educate young generation, and help reconnect his community to their culture.
