An important part of being a Lafayette Leader is considering the ways that we can positively impact the world around us- globally, nationally, and locally. Each year, Lafayette Leaders develop a project that will help the community. Part of the development process includes learning about the issues that lead to various needs and learning about the people who are impacted.
Check out some of our projects below!
Hats for Hurricane Harvey
In 2017, our class raised over $900 to donate to a fourth grade class in Houston that was impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

In 2018, our class learned about homelessness and poverty. Our learning included reading different books and articles, as well as a visit from an employee from a local shelter. Following our meeting, our class collected toys, shoes, and clothing to donate to the shelter.
Community Clean Up
In 2019, we engaged in two projects. We participated in a school yard clean up with another third grade class. We also hosted a winter clothing drive to support people who are homeless.
