Fishing for Fun (Incoming Grds. 5-9 Only)

Offered during Session 1 only

Explore area waters for fishing! Learn about the many different species of fish as well as techniques to land them! We will learn how to tie knots, bait hooks, cast and retrieve safely, and work on team building skills, all with a respect for nature.

Wisconsin ATV Safety Training Program

MUST BE AT LEAST 11 YEARS OLD

$10 course fee

The Wisconsin ATV Safety Training Program consists of nine hours of instruction. Instruction emphasizes the importance of laws and regulations, ethics, personal safety, and the proper use of all-terrain vehicles. All ATV enthusiasts who ride on public riding areas who are at least age 12 and who were born on or after January 1st, 1988, must complete a safety certification course. All UTV enthusiasts who are at least age 16 and were born on or after January 1st, 1988 must complete a safety certification course.

Athletic Enhancement Training

$100 course fee (students will receive a medicine ball, exercise band, and t-shirt)

Monday-Thursday, July 17th-28th and July 8th-August 2nd

AM Session: 6am-8am

PM Session: 3pm-5pm

Students will participate in a 6-week, 24 session Athletic Enhancement Training program to improve athleticism, reduce potential chance for injury to ankle, knee, hip, back, and shoulders commonly seen in athletics.

Students will also be able to participate in summer training activities designed to improve flexibility, speed, agility, endurance, and core strength prior to or after each Athletic Enhancement Training session.

Physical Education credit can be made available from the instructors upon request for Ladysmith High School students.

Football Fundamentals

This course will meet on specific days as determined by the instructor.

Students will learn the basics of football including offense and defense. Rules of the game and sportsmanship will be emphasized. If you are curious about playing football and want to know more about this game this course is a great way to start!

Volleyball Skills, Drills, and Team Play (Incoming Grds. 6-9 Only)

August 5th-9th

9am-12pm

This is a one week course open to boys and girls. Students will be introduced to the basic skills needed to play volleyball recreationally and competitively. This will be done through fun and exercise, stressing the enjoyment of the sport. Students will learn the court basics such as rotation, positions, court systems, transitions, as well as simple offense and defense. One-on-one work will assist students in improving their individual skills.

Join us for one or all of the times listed above!

No experience necessary! Students will be playing volleyball recreationally and competitively. Students will learn the court basics such as rotation, positions, court systems, etc. Students will be on teams according to skill level and be coached by an adult. They will learn and play offense and defensive systems.

Hunter's Safety

Course Fee: $10.00 check to Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources

PERFECT ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED FOR CERTIFICATION.

Course will meet Wisconsin DNR requirements for Hunter Education. The purpose of this course is to provide safety, conservation, and outdoor responsibility training to beginning hunters. Graduates will be more knowledgeable about their many responsibilities as hunters. Instruction will include firearm and archery safety, outdoor skills and an emphasis on ethical behavior to the future of hunting.

Bow Hunter's Safety

Course Fee: $10.00 check to Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources

PERFECT ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED FOR CERTIFICATION.

Course will meet Wisconsin DNR requirements for Bow Safety Education. The purpose of this course is to provide safety, conservation, and outdoor responsibility training to beginning bow hunters. Graduates will be more knowledgeable about their many responsibilities as hunters. Instruction will include archery safety, outdoor skills and an emphasis on ethical behavior to the future of hunting. Wisconsin does not currently require this course to use a bow to hunt, but numerous states are requiring it to bow hunt.

Boater's Safety

Course Fee: $10.00 check to Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources

Course will meet Wisconsin DNR requirements for Boater's Safety Education. The purpose of this course is to provide safety, conservation, and outdoor responsibility training to beginning boaters. Graduates will be more knowledgeable about their many responsibilities as boaters. Instruction will include boating safety, outdoor skills and an emphasis on ethical behavior while driving a watercraft. Wisconsin does currently require this course to use operate a watercraft for people born after January 1, 1989.

Junior Golf

June 12-August 21, Wednesdays ONLY

THIS COURSE MEETS WEDNESDAYS ONLY AT TEE-A-WAY GOLF COURSE, TRANSPORTATION TO GOLF COURSE NOT PROVIDED, TRANSPORTATION FROM GOLF COURSE TO LMHS PROVIDED AFTER LESSONS

Materials: Students will need to provide their own golf clubs.

Students will learn the basics of golf; including driving, chipping and putting. Rules of the game and etiquette will be emphasized.

This year, LMHS will be offering a summer CNA course through WITC that will be held at Ladysmith Middle/High School. This course will not be offered in Trimester 1 this fall. If you are a Ladysmith student, this class will be paid for by the district. Students from other districts are welcomed to register for the class, but the cost of the class must be covered by your district or paid for out of pocket. Prior to registering, please check the dates and times listed above to make sure that you can attend all of them. 100% attendance is mandatory for this course. Students must be 16 years of age or older at the time of the class.

Credit Recovery

June 10th-July 3rd

8:30am-1:30pm

*Students will be required to attend a minimum of three consecutive hours during the course time offering to meet attendance requirements for credit.

Credit recovery is offered to high school students who have failed high school courses and need to make up the credit. It includes courses such as English, science, math, social studies, and health. Students will complete course content using PLATO curriculum. PLATO courseware is a standards-based online learning program which engages students with interactive and media-rich content.

Students can earn up to 1 credit during summer school.

Driver's Education

June 10-28th (Monday to Friday only) 7:30-9:30am

This Driver's Education course will cover both the classroom and the behind-the-wheel portions of the Driver's Education training requirements and will be taught by The Master's Driving School. Students must be at least 14 1/2 years of age at the time of the course and are eligible for their Learner's Permit at the age of 15 1/2. The total cost of the course is $385

Environmental Challenge

June 10-July 12th

7:00am-12:30pm

Eight students will be selected to participate in an environmental studies/natural resources improvement project this summer. Students will work with our teacher, college intern, and natural resources professionals in a hands-on environmental improvement project. Students will work 5-7 hours per day, earn 1/2 of an elective credit, and a $600 stipend. Interested students must fill out the form attached to the link here. Interested applicants must complete the application form and return it to Mr. Schroeder at Ladysmith Middle and High School by May9th.

Summer Co-Op Work Program

Students will earn 1/2 of an elective credit at Ladysmith High School for completion of 90 hours of successful work experience, completion of the Wisconsin Employability Certificate Program Portfolio, and attendance at meetings with the course supervisor at the student's employment site, if necessary.

This program is open to any student who is currently employed.

Competitive Swimming Stroke Clinic

Dates: June 11, 13, 17, 18, 20

4-7pm LMHS Pool

Students entering grades 6 through 12 are invited to attend a swim clinic designed for young athletes that have had at least one year of competitive swimming at the club or high school level. Instruction will focus on all four competitive strokes as well as dryland exercises to enhance in-pool performance. The final clinic night will feature a “mock-meet” in which students will have the opportunity to practice their refined skills in a fun format as they race against the clock! There is no fee for this course. Instructors are Jerry Lusk and Matt Bunton. Any questions can be directed to Matt Bunton (mbunton@sdlwi.org).

Basketball Fundamentals and Conditioning

This basketball fundamentals and conditioning course is an open gym-style opportunity for athletes to stay active throughout the summer. Athletic Director, Mr. Rogers is still working on the dates and times, but they will be posted here once they are available.

Registration is not required for this course and athletes can attend only when they are able.

Summer Band

Mr. Yudes will be contacting all high school band members during the early summer with the dates and times for Summer Band. Registration is not required for this course.

Students will prepare musical selections and marching shows for the upcoming marching and pep band seasons. Musicality, posture, marching positions and unit cohesion will be addressed. This course is required for students enrolled in Band for the 2019-20 academic school year. Lessons will run throughout summer schools second session.
