STUDIO POLICIES

Dress Code – We request that students carefully observe our dress code outlined below. Company dress code can be found on the website company page. Students not following dress code will be asked to observe class only.

Classroom Behavior – School age children and teens: Please practice respect towards teachers and fellow students. Students are not to be socializing in a disruptive manner during class with other students. Please respect your teacher and fellow students by giving full attention and cooperation. Students being disruptive or disrespectful will be asked to sit out of class. You will be advised if we feel any student is not well adjusted to the classroom environment for any reason over time.

Bathroom and Water Breaks – All students are encouraged not to leave the room once class has begun. Please allow for adequate restroom use prior to class. Very young children will be treated sensitively as the need arises. Students will have water breaks during class, please remember to send them with a water bottle. Preschool children may need a parent’s attention from time to time for various reasons including bathroom or behavior issues. Please do not leave the waiting room when very young children are in class without informing the teacher or having another parent responsible during your absence. We make every effort to have all children feel safe and cared for in a loving and inspiring learning environment.

Absences and Tardiness – Any student arriving more than 15 minutes late will observe class only. In terms of absences, we ask that if your child is ill, please stay home! Make-up lessons are available in a comparable class at the advice of your teacher. Makeups must be completed within 4 weeks of an absence. Makeup lessons cannot be a private lesson. During class, if a student becomes ill or sustains an injury and cannot participate, the office will notify the parents if not on the premises.

*Private dance or aerial lessons must be canceled via phone or e-mail 24 hours in advance of the scheduled class. A 50% cancellation fee will be charged for the first cancellation. Subsequent cancellations less than 24 hours will be charged the full amount. Exceptions are: illness, injury, or weather related. A doctor’s note may be required for medical reasons.*

Inclement Weather – In case of inclement weather, please check our website (www.ladancenh.com), we will also send e-mail notification of all cancellations due to weather. We follow the Timberlane School District for all weather cancellations; however, the weather can improve by the afternoon, so always check before attending class. Use your own discretion regarding attendance if the driving is difficult in your area. Students will be allowed to attend a comparable class for makeups in case of inclement weather. Teachers will e-mail these recommendations along with cancellation e-mails.

Communication – Each family is required to have an active e-mail on file (one that is checked on a daily basis). All studio communication (monthly calendars, statements, cancellations, etc.) is sent out via e-mail ONLY, please check your e-mails on a daily basis. New this year, we are offering families the option to receive text notifications for class cancellations, makeup classes, and extra rehearsals. If you would like to receive notifications via text, please notify the office.

Arrival/Before Class – Please allow adequate time for students to prepare for class, changing, restrooms, etc. We request that students are not dropped off any earlier than 10 minutes before the start of their first class. Parents, for the safety of your children, please be available in the waiting area to retrieve your children immediately after class has concluded. Please call the office if you are delayed.

*No students are allowed in classrooms without a teacher present when class is not in session. Please be respectful of this rule and do not allow students to run or play in classrooms without teacher supervision.*

PLEASE NOTE: In order to ensure that students are safe, comfortable, and conduct themselves in an appropriate manner, no child under the age of 13 is allowed to remain in the waiting area without parental supervision for extended periods of time (10 minutes of more).

Buses – No student is allowed to arrive at L.A. Dance via school bus. All students must be dropped off by a parent or guardian. If you must put your child on the bus, a parent or guardian must be in the L.A. Dance parking lot to pick up students when the bus arrives.

Personal Items – L.A. Dance is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please use discretion when bringing items of value to the studio (phones, iPods, computers, etc.). Common areas are not monitored while classes are in session. If you’re worried about an item becoming lost or stolen, please leave it at home!

Age Requirements – Students of L.A. Dance must meet the age requirement for each class they wish to participate in, no later than September 1, 2018 to be considered eligible for a particular dance/aerial class. Students will be placed appropriately by age and ability.

Class Placement – L.A. Dance reserves the right to place students according to their age, ability, and dance experience. Some classes require prerequisites or permission of the instructor. We reserve the right to cancel any class that does not meet our minimum enrollment requirement of 5 students; however, we will recommend another comparable class for your child.

*Faculty members are subject to change. In the event that this may occur, we will provide another, equally, qualified instructor.

Discontinuation of Classes – In the event that a student should wish to discontinue lessons, a parent or guardian must contact the office either by e-mail or phone in order to drop a student from a class. Students will not be considered dropped from a class until we have received official notice from a parent or guardian. If a student should discontinue lessons, all previously paid tuition and any other fees collected are forfeited; there are no refunds. You are responsible for any unpaid balances.

Emergencies – As with any physical activity, there is a risk of physical harm/injury in dance. If injury occurs, L.A. Dance will make every effort to contact a parent or guardian. We ask that all families also have an emergency contact on file with us as well. In the case that a parent, guardian, or emergency contact cannot be reached, L.A. Dance will seek/apply medical treatment on behalf of the student.

Observation – Observation weeks are scheduled roughly once a month throughout the school year (October - April), please check the calendar on our website for exact dates. No one else is allowed to sit and watch during regular class time. Parents: please do not enter a classroom while class is in session. For families and students, please remove street shoes before entering all classrooms. Only dance shoes or socks are allowed on dance floors.

Choreography – All choreography performed in class and at recitals is the intellectual property of L.A. Dance and its choreographers. To preserve this intellectual property, and to respect all students’ comfort, families and students are not to record or post videos of choreography online or on social media. Doing so without previous permission of the instructor will be seen as an infringement of L.A. Dance’s intellectual property.

Photography – At times, staff members may take photos or videos of students for use on our website/Facebook page or for marketing and promotional purposes.

Dance class is educational and fun; however, an important part of class work is developing an attitude of discipline and respect for teachers and fellow students. We trust that following our classroom etiquette will provide an environment whereby classes at L.A. Dance will be a pleasure for all concerned.
