In the fall of 2020, Our Associate Director of the Carolina Latinx Center Marcela, Torres-Cervantes was tasked with organizing a signature event to host virtually. The goal of this event was to bring together individuals from different cohorts and experiences, creating a highlight program for the Latinx Center. Drawing inspiration from her involvement with NC State—an event that spans not just the university of UNC but statewide—Marcela collaborated with various partners, including the program coordinator Duke Ellmore Moreaimor to co-chair and plan the event!  Despite being a virtual two-day session, La Conferencia fostered meaningful connections among attendees. The event featured contributions from participants, many of whom shared their personal journeys and how they reached their current positions! La Conferencia will host their 5th anual Conference Feb 28 and March 1st embracing the theme Encendiendo Nuestra Llama.
